How It Works

Whether you're here for yourself or someone you care about, starting something new can be daunting.

That’s why we’ve made our process simple, consent-led, and full of choice, right from the beginning.

Here’s what to expect:

1. First Contact

You can click the 'Book My Check In' and choose a time
or
Just send us a message, WhatsApp, email, or the contact form.
You don’t need to know what to say. A simple "Hi, I'm interested" is enough.

We’ll respond within 24 hours and ask how you’d prefer to chat:
Phone?
WhatsApp?
Email?

Whatever feels easiest and safest for you.

2. The Side Quest Check-In (Free)

We’ll have a relaxed conversation to find out:
  • What kind of support you’re looking for
  • What games and platforms you enjoy
  • Any past experiences that matter
  • What makes you feel comfortable (or anxious)
  • Whether gaming support feels like the right fit
This isn’t an assessment, just a friendly chat.
And if we think you’d benefit more from therapy, we’ll tell you gently and help you find the right person.

3. Payment & Session Options

We’ll explain our pricing clearly and simply:

If you choose to go ahead, we’ll send a short onboarding form (nothing scary!) and ask for emergency contact info.

4. Optional Tech Setup Session

Some people like to do a quick test run before the first full session.

We’ll check:
  • Mic and sound
  • Internet connection
  • Game access
Whether you’d like to chat lots… or keep it low-key
Totally optional. Totally up to you.

5. Welcome Email

Once you're set up, we’ll send a friendly pack with:
  • What to expect in sessions
  • An intro to your support worker
  • E-safety tips
  • Your working agreement
  • Privacy info and safeguarding contact details
Everything is clear, kind, and made for real humans, not legal robots.

6. Your First Full Session

You log on, play a game, and get to know your support worker.

You decide:
  • How much you talk
  • What game you play
  • What feels comfortable
We don’t push. We don’t analyse.
We play, chat, and co-regulate, together.

7. Ongoing Support & Reviews

You can book sessions weekly or fortnightly.
We’ll check in every 6–12 weeks to reflect on how things are going, what’s working, and if anything needs adjusting.

We offer:
  • Consistent 1:1 support
  • Optional parent/carer updates (if everyone agrees)
  • Signposting to other services if deeper help is needed
We don’t push. We don’t analyse.
We play, chat, and co-regulate, together.

Safety & Scope

We’re trained support workers, not therapists and we always work within our skillset.

You’ll never be asked to mask, perform, or “fix” yourself.
If therapy becomes a better fit, we’ll help guide you there, kindly, clearly, and without pressure.

Still Unsure? You’re allowed to say:
“Can I think about it?”
“I’m not sure yet.”
“I’m nervous.”
“Can you tell me more first?”

And we’ll always meet you with patience, respect, and real conversation.
